Your reputation as an outstanding speaker made our awards dinner a success . . . The quality of your speech was superb. There were many, many positive comments and people want you to come back and speak to us again.
You made the night for me and all in attendance.” Jim Erickson Kiwanis “Your presentation was most enjoyable and interesting. The audience response certainly confirmed this assessment. Over half the group rated your presentation as excellent.” Julayne R. Mayer Tri-County Hospital Foundation Coordinator “I wish to extend our deep appreciation for the quality of your presentation at our recent workshop. I could not help notice the excitement and enthusiasm participants verbalized at the close. It made me realize what we would have missed if we had failed to offer this opportunity.” Vern O. Broughton Director of Pastoral Care St. Joseph’s Medical Center " . . . our audience was a diverse group of employees and retirees, everyone from laborers, truck drivers, heavy equipment operators to the senior management and office support staff. Q: What kind of speaker are you? and What do you speak about? are the most frequently asked questions
A: I call myself an inspirational speaker. You can call me a 'motivational' speaker, but inspirational is more appropriate Q: Are your presentations 'clean?' A: Yes. All my material is clean. If my presentations were movies, they would be PG or PG-13. Q: How long have you been speaking professionally? A: My first paid presentation was in 1995. Q: What is the difference between a 'keynote' and a 'workshop?' A: A 'keynote' presentation is basically a traditional speech. I use the term 'keynote' to differentiate a 'speech' from a 'workshop.' A keynote speech doesn't have to be limited to the traditional, formal 'after dinner' speech. Interaction during the presentation is usually limited but can include Q & A or discussion afterward. This type of presentation is typically about 30 to 60 minutes in length. A 'workshop' or seminar, is a training session that is much more informal. It is typically over an hour and may be several hours in length. There is usually quite a bit of participation by those attending. Q: How much do you charge? A: My fee is $3000, plus expenses. Unless other arrangements are made, I get 50% down to hold the date and the remainder on the day of the event. Some organizations prefer to write one check that includes reasonable expenses, which is fine. If you can purchase airfare and other accommodations at a better rate you are welcome to do so. If I will be submitting receipts for reimbursement, I promise to be judicious and conservative. I will reduce my fee for small nonprofit organizations. Q: What if we have to cancel? A: If you change your mind, I get to keep your deposit. If I have to cancel, I'll return your deposit. Neither of those have ever happened. In the event of weather delays, illness or 'acts of God,' we will reschedule the engagement to a mutually agreeable time. Q: Do you have a contract? A: It’s all about communication. Generally, we spell out the details of the presentation via email. Q: Do you have a video? A: Yes. |
